Faun (GER)
Faun
is a German pagan
folk/darkwave band formed in 1998. The originality of their music style
is that they fall back to "old" instruments, and the singing is always
the center of attention. Their instrument include celtic harp, Swedish
schluesselfiedel, hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, cittern, flutes and many
others.
The band was founded in 1998 by Oliver Sa Tyr, Lisa Pawelke, Fiona
Rüggeberg and Birgit Muggenthaler. Two years later,
Rüdiger
Maul got into the band as percussionist. At the same time, Birgit left
the band, to continue her musical life with the folk-rock band
Schandmaul. In 2002, they released their first album
Zaubersprüche. Niel Mitra was a guest musician on this album,
and
he later became a full-time member of the band, the only one playing
only electronic instruments

Flinch is a five member composition from Nokia,
Finland. The
band was formed in early 2003. The look and the music of the band is
inspired by the late 80’s Finnish musicians. The
straightforward
fittings with guitar solos and drums remind the 80’s and the
real
world of punk rock.
Although Flinch is rather young, they don’t apologize for
their
existence. They’ve been highly thanked for their relentless
and
peculiarly energetic and strong Finnish stage act. Their lyrics tell
the genuine young way to live life in this society and how things
should be also thought out loud.
There is a mental shadow moving around the band, while already merited
members’ blood is flowing in the veins of the band. Flinch
does
roll both, their fans and some of their unbelievers, in their web? This
web is which takes the thoughts away from everyday life and also maybe
makes one identify in one moment in life.
The band is consisted of bunch of friends that decided to, instead of
hanging on the streets, found a band. Finch, from Vihola, Nokia is that
same bunch of friends it has always been and which it still wants to be.
The first single release of the band, “Tuulet”
(eng. winds)
rose as high as third in Finnish single chart and stayed there for
several weeks.

Ville is back; new lineup, new album, Jonne to produce!
Jonne Aaron to produce his brother's band
Negative's frontman Jonne Aaron is expanding his role in the music
business by producing the new record of his brother Ville's band,Flinch.
- "Jonne will produce Flinch's new album, he's been supporting Ville
with all the stuff he went through last year so the choice was kind of
obvious.", says the band's manager Tommi Liimatainen.
Ville's band has been through a lot of changes lately, Ville has had
problems with alcohol and he's had to find a totally new lineup for the
band.
- "Now it seems everything's cool and there's no alarming alcohol
epidemic in the Tampere rock scene anymore", chuckles manager
Liimatainen.
Duet in the works?
Tommi goes on to hint about a possible duet between Jonne and Ville:
- "Everything's possible with those guys working together. And it would
be a nice surprise if that kind of thing happened, don't you think?
Flinch started the studio sessions for their new album today, the
release will happen during autumn '07. The band's debut album
"Kuvastin" has sold over 5000 copies to date.
The story of
For Selena and Sin began at
2004. That was when the two gentlemen, Pasi and Teemu decided to form a
band and go for it. They had had this idea for a long time: to create
more calm, more emotional, more pop/rock influenced music than what
they'd ever done before. It was time to make it happen... For Selena
and Sin was born into this world of misery.
The next step was to find the other members and it didn't take long for
the keyboard wizard Teme to join, or Kuha to get behind the drumkit.
Sini gave the needed element of female vocals to the group and on the
guitar came Mika. So the line-up was there... Songs were composed and
arranged, and they started to sound good as the band was to enter Arttu
Sarvanne's Studio Watercastle.
It was autumn 2005, the band crawled to the studio and the result was a
demo called "Draining". The demo had three songs and this collection of
hope and despair got amazing reviews: people were really into it.
The band started working once again, writing songs for the upcoming
sessions of the first album. Just before the recordings, the singer
left the band. Annika, with her talented beautiful voice, stepped in
with enthusiasm. And on May 2006 the band entered Studio Watercastle to
record the debut album entitled “Overdosed on You". It took
almost half a year of determination to finish the 10 songs for the
full-length album. Despite all the ups and down during the recordings,
the band finally achieved something they can stand proudly behind: a
killer debut album.
The band went to do some gig's while waiting for the release of the
album. They started to write new songs, but without any pressure or
deadline. The future of For Selena and Sin seems bright, though full of
desperation that is an inspiration to make music that will find a way
to your heart with it's emotion and honesty. So here they are, ready
an' willing to offer you a great album...so it is written, so it shall
be done...

For My Pain... is a
Gothic metal supergroup from Oulu, Finland,
featuring members from Embraze, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Nightwish,
Charon and Reflexion.
The first idea of For My Pain... was born during the autumn 1999, when
Altti
Veteläinen (EToS) and Petri Sankala (EToS) were planning on
forming a new
gothic-style band. The guys thought over suitable members into the band
and
decided to ask if their old friends Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish) and
Lauri
Tuohimaa (Embraze/Maple Cross) would be interested in this kind of
idea. Both
became interested in the project but unfortunatelly everybody were
still too
busy with their own bands and the idea of the new project was decided
to be
postponed into the future.
Couple of years later Altti and Petri started
to warm the band idea up again. This time the timing was right, because
Eternal
Tears of Sorrow was on a break and also Nightwish was planning to have
a small
pause due to Tarja's studies in Germany. The band was still lacking of
another
guitar player and a singer, so the ex-Eternal Tears of Sorrow dude
Olli-Pekka
Törrö and Juha Kylmänen from Reflexion were
asked to join the band.
The
guys started to compose and rehearse material for the first album and
finally
they were ready to enter the studio in spring 2001. The debut album
"Fallen" was
recorded by Ahti Kortelainen in Tico-Tico studio, which is one of the
most
famous and the best known metal studios in Finland. The mixing of the
album took
place in January 2002 in Finnvox studios by Mikko Karmila and the final
touch
was given by Mika Jussila at Finnvox mastering studios. This powerful
trio
managed to create heavy, but at the same time very atmospheric
soundscape into
the album.
The whole package was finished by wonderful artwork by Travis
Smith. The cover artwork differs from ordinary goth album covers by its
refreshing colour scheme and the overall icy look.
The "Fallen" album
contains ten tracks of gothic / atmospheric metal, which exude dark
melancholy
veiled in beautiful and catchy melody lines.
