Manzana (FIN)
Manzana is about
passion. We dream of making music that can be felt in your ass, in your
throat, in your feet. Music that makes your head explode with energy,
love end power. Music that makes you strong and proud. That´s
how we wanna feel. Manzana means an apple. It´s fresh, sour
,juicy, fleshy. It feeds hunger. We are about passion and lust for life
and music. We play cause we wanna play. We make 90´s melodic
rockmetal. Again. We don´t care. As long as it feels right.
To make the long story short, with or without music- we´d be
in gutter. There´s nothing to loose. For you either!
Manzana means an apple. Forbidden, delicious, nutritious. fresh,
tasty….
A Manzana a day keeps the doctor away!
Manzana is a pop-metal band from Tampere, Finland. The
four of them have known each other for years, and feed musically from
the 90´s grunge-alt-metal heritage. They make music that is
dramatic, elastic, melodic and strong. The band came to life in the
summer 2003, by Henkka, Heikki and Piritta. Ville joined the band a
year later, and fit in perfectly. They played a bunch of gigs to test
themselves, and released a promo EP “Nothing a Whole As A
Broken Heart” in the summer 2005. Feedback was very good, and
some labels were interested in signing them, but they didn’t
get a good enough deal with anyone. They decided to make an album with
their own TRC-Records label.
“Falling to Pieces” was released by TRC November 6
th 2006, and it hit the charts number 3 and 2. The Album
“Nothing As Whole As A Broken Heart” came out on
January 31st. 2007 and went on chart number 24. They also released a
video for “Falling To Pieces” in February, and it
went into Kids Top 20 video chart number 13 ,The album has been well
and widely reviewed in the media, and “Falling To Pieces
“has got some airplay in Finnish radios and TV.
The band has a reputation of intensive and groovy live performer, and
they have a heavy live sound for a pop-metal band. The band has visited
this year with interview &video at the Sub Tv Shows
Rautaryhmä and Subbari, Lista-show( video only ), MTV 3 Kids
Top Show, Voice Tv and Music Television Headbangers Ball.
They´ve also attended at Yle X and Pommiradio. Small net
radios have played “Falling To Pieces” in many
countries, due to the bands My Space connections.
In Finland, www.noise.fi
and pommiradio.fi
were playing Manzana a long before the others, and now RadioRock
took” Falling To Pieces” on their playlist, too .

Nothing As Whole As A Broken Heart 2007
Babies of Revoulution 2008
MARYSLIM has been around since 1999. The year that
also involved
the Kosovo war, one of the largest drug busts ever in American history,
the assassination of moderate Iraqi Shiite cleric Mohammad Sadeq
al-Sadr, an earthquake in Turkey who killed 13 000 people, etc. If all
these things had something in common whatsoever is to this day unknown.
KENT was getting quite tired of playing with the Diamond Dogs, Mats was
bored to death with mostly everything and Urrke-T had just moved to
Stockholm partying his way through all the sloppy bars and afterparties
he could find. On one of these cheezy events these three amigos met and
before they even knew they had a band going together.
THE DRUMMER though was a slight problem. The guy they had at the time
was from Germany and could unfortunately not either make himself
understood or play the drums properly. Urrke-T knew what he had to do.
He called his old partner in crime - Patrik - a good drummer with a
history as a session Jazz-musician.
AFTER an initial audition it was all clear! Rehearsals started and the
guys played around with silly names as The Redliners and Smacker, but
finally settled for the silliest one MARYSLIM!
MARYSLIM is a constantly touring band. If they are not making the
Festivals into infernos and a battlefield, or hi-jacking some vehicle
to take them to some stages and bars elsewhere in Scandinavia, they are
probably rocking their butts off at the CBGBs in New York, the Red Room
in Texas, or conquering Spain, Italy, Germany, England or some other
little European country you hardly have heard of before. On their own,
or together with their friends in bands like the Hanoi Rocks, 69 Eyes,
Backyard Babies, Hybrid Children, Nomads, Sahara Hotnights,
Wonderfools, Psychopunch, Marky Ramone, Black Halos or Mustasch!
THE LATEST ALBUM "A PEFECT MESS" was recorded in the famous Abyss
Studio with producer Peter Tagtgren (Pain, Hypocrisy, Dark Funeral,
Wolf). A winning concept since the "Split Vision" album. MARYSLIM are
one of the very few Rock N Roll-bands that Mr Tagtgren works with and
he have formerly only worked with different Metal-acts, and the
Maryslim-
sound has once again really been taken for a ride to a new level and
dimension! "A PERFECT MESS" is released in Scandinavia February 2007
and the rest of Europe in March 2007 on Wild Kingdom Records! The album
was also preceeded by a single and a video. A totally incredible
version of The Sisters Of Mercy´s classic "This Corrosion",
with
nobody less than Mr JYRKI69 of the 69EYES himself on the lead vocals!
You have by now both seen it and heard it. A f****n KILLER!
ALL THE MARYSLIM VIDEOS: "THIS CORROSION", "B.T.L." and "MY TIME" has
been filmed and directed by Charlie Granberg, who is also known for his
videos with The Solution, Crucified Barbara, Gemini Five, Hellfueled,
MyDyingBride, Katatonia, etc
MARYSLIM has their very own sound. Subtle, hard & heavy Rock
&
Roll, crammed with melodic choruses. The band has been described as "a
splendid mix of mid-70s Hardrock and Punk, spiced up with some The
Cult-sounds, heavy AC/DC riffing and catchy Foo Fighters-vibes"!
That is probably true, but can be said more easily: Its only Rock N
Roll, but we like it!

Midnattsol is a Symphonic metal and folk metal band from Germany and
Norway.
Their sound is essentially Symphonic metal, with some folk influences
in the melodies. Their lyrics are largely based on Norwegian folk
tales. Their first full-length album, Where Twilight Dwells, was
released in 2005; they are expecting to release a new album in the
first half of 2007.
Midnattsol means "midnight sun" in Norwegian. Although their sound can
be classified as Symphonic metal, the band prefers to call their style
"Nordic folk metal" because of the folk elements in their music and
occasional Norwegian lyrics.
Guitarists Daniel Droste and Christian Hector recently joined forces
with Stephan Adolph to form Ahab, a German funeral doom band.
Chris Merzinsky and Birgit Öllbrunner are also playing in the
band Raw Intense Power

Mortiis
(born as Håvard Ellefsen on July 25, 1975 in
Notodden, Norway), is a Norwegian musician. During his career he has
created music that falls into the black metal, dark ambient, and, most
recently, industrial rock genres of music. The name is a misspelling of
the word 'mortis', which is the pronunciation Mortiis himself uses
though how one pronounces his name varies from person to person.
Era I
The title of Era I was never intentional. It came about in 2001 when
Mortiis was set to release
The Smell of Rain, which was such a departure from his earlier records
that he wanted to
brand it in a way to signify this. All works previous to The Smell of
Rain were thereafter
referred to as Era I as consequence. All of the Era I albums were
composed entirely on
synthesizers, creating a sound that Mortiis described as "dark dungeon
music." The Stargate went
a step further by introducing acoustic guitars and flutes, among
others; Female vocals were
provided by Sarah Jezebel Deva.
Era II
created a divide among fans; the songs this time had an electropop feel
to them, and frontman
Håvard took to lead vocals for the first time. This would be
the only release under the title of
Era II. Some fans thought Mortiis had betrayed them as they were
expecting what many had
nicknamed "The Stargate II". It was during this 'era' that
Håvard decided he needed to seek
members to perform in a live setting, which later helped change how
Mortiis as a band sounded.
Era III
With Era III came The Grudge, which took an even more drastic turn from
previous eras and is
said to have made the biggest impression of any of his albums. The
Grudge took on a heavy
industrial rock emphasis, combining grinding guitars and industrial
programming. Some of the
long time fans were again not too happy with this turn, but it helped
gain Mortiis more new
fans. In 2005 the Norwegian government declared The Grudge as a
cultural artifact, requiring the
album to be in libraries across the country.
On April 16, 2007 Mortiis released a remix album titled Some Kind of
Heroin, reworking
material from The Grudge, via Earache Records. "Some Kind of Heroin"
offers diverse remix
material including interpretations by a wide range of contemporaries,
such as Zombie Girl,
Gothminister, Implant, XP8, PIG, The Kovenant, Velvet Acid Christ,
Girls Under Glass, David
Wallace, Kubrick, Flesh Field, Dope Stars Inc, In the Nursery among
others. The choice of bands
suggested a more Electro-industrial future for Mortiis, but this wasn't
the case.
Mortiis is working alongside Rhys Fulber for his latest album (working
title: Road to Ruin),
with working track titles such as "The Great Deceiver", "Zeitgeist",
"The Ugly Truth", and
"Scolding the Burnt". It's not yet known whether Mortiis will further
this as Era IV, as
he has said it would have greater emphasis on 'organic' instruments
(guitar), or if it will
remain as Era III.
