I cannot hide here that the Deathstars are very much one of my
favourite bands! So why should I?? I cannot say why it took such a long
time until I saw another gig of them, maybe my timing last year was
bad. But I was very antsy when I waited with some other people at the
door for the entrance. Let's not rail against the organizators of the
gig, the entrance was exhausted and tedious but in the end I found
myself in the middle of the first row because of some missing
photographer's pit. Whatever, the supportband was ok but I had not that
much attention for them.

When the Deathstars started their show it became hot and tight and
screechy in the big venue. When did the Deathstars become a Teen-band??
I missed that but nevertheless I had fun from the beginning to the too
soon end. It's not that they changed a lot of their show, just a few
new songs that replaced some old that I missed very much but singer
Andreas "Whiplasher" doesn't need a big show around, his stage-presence
is stunning and the white make-up of the guys is just an underlining of
the dismal sound. Well yeah the sound... is there any band that sounds
live exactly like on their albums?? Yes Deathstars, they catched the
athmosphere of their gigs at the studio-recordings better than any
other band I know. And Andreas can sing like you hear him on the
records! A bit live electronic support is obvious but common in the
industrial scene. Some of their songs have this rare hymn potential
that makes people sing along loud and it was a great experience to be
in this crowd and blue spots are already necessary, aren't they?

Andreas abandoned himself to the fans much more than needed, he had no
problem being touched by everybody nearly everywhere, seems like he
loves close contact to the fans. Skinny, Cat and Nightmare where not
that cozy, Bone had no chance to be cosy behind his drums, but
they all gave the fans a lot of interacting. After the show they spend
some time with the fans and I left Berlin in high spirits ;)
