Within Temptation & Delain, Leipzig 05.10.2007 Haus Auensee

When I decided to visit the concert of Within Temptation it was mostly for the reason that they had two great support bands with them: Delain and The 69 Eyes.  When I arrived at the hall the first information I got was that The 69 Eyes have cancelled the show due to the fact that they still were in Vienna because their bus broke down.  Of coures there were a lot of sad 69 Eyes fans and some of them sold their tickets because they came just because of  this band. Thats a big problem if you let two totally different bands play together. So I went into the hall in awaiting of a great show of Delain and a bit confused about  the upcoming show of Within Temptation. The hall was filled well, it was not sold out but close to it. A very mixed crowd waited for the beginning.

Then Delain entered the stage and  they rocked the crowd with their strong melodic metal sound and the rocking voice of singer Charlotte. She was dressed very simple and they did no fulminant show, but their music and Charlottes stagepresence made this show a very professional and charming one.

Delain as Support fitted perfectly cause the Head of Delain, Martijn Westerholt is a former member of WT. He left the band cause of problems with his health. One more reason is that Charlotte and Sharon sing a duett on the album, so it was no surprise when Sharon came on stage for No Compliance and sang along with Delain.

Delain played 10 songs and the crowd seemed enthusiastic when they said goodbye. A very sympathic band with lots of potencial for a big future.

After a longer break Within Temptations bombastic sound echoes out of the boxes and they opened with Our Solemn Hour what seemed  a perfect choice,  the poeple banged and jumped and Sharon surprised me with a much stronger voice then I remembered.

The songs from the new album The Heart Of Everything are much deeper in the vocallines and Sharon hit every tune as I never had heard it before at her. Also her outfit and her moving on stage changed a lot. She wore a corsett and a petticoat and she really rocked on stage instead of gliding over the stage like a diva as I have seen that before.  They played every hit and most of the songs from the new album and so I started to enjoy
the show.

Cause of the failsure of The 69 Eyes they decided to play a much longer show. After a few songs they started with some fire on stage that made a nice athmosphere. Then they played  Angels and as I awaited it became a problem for Sharons voice to sing the very difficult and hightuned written song live. I don't know why she doesn't  sing it deeper, but the next song also gave me a bad feeling, after she missed some tunes.  In opposite to the shows that I saw before she now gets back to her old form and All I Need was a big highlight for me. This ballad is a masterpiece and the couples in the hall were hugging and I saw some girls crying and everyone sang along.

The following songs were also well performed but you could hear that Sharons voice was exhausted by that much longer show than usual. All in all I was surprised how much they changed and it was a wonderful show they made. I will see them again in future and you should really check out the new album.
By the way, I did not missed the 69 Eyes between the both shows, I think they would have been a break in style and without them it was a perfect fitting cooperation.
