It is not the big hysterie anymore around the 5 finns from
Negative. After the leaving of Sir Christus last year and the
short guest role of Tuomas Keskinen alias Gary for just one festival
gig in Germany and some gigs in Finnland the guys decided to go on with
just one guitarist as a five piece. Well I was wondering if that means
a big change in their sound.
In fact I first was a bit surprised by
something else when I entered the mini- venue they booked in
Hamburg. It was not half that big as it was supposed to be
for
such a band, but there were not too many people, everybody fitted in
perfectly. Does that mean they lost a lot of fans, well actually they
did, but it seemed to me they reached now an older audience, more
aduld, except for the 20 girls in the first rows that are still the
same as usual. There where also a lot of guys around...as I said: less
hysterie!
Substyle did their part of supporting and it was not too bad. The girl
on the drums catched my eyes, she seemed very concentrated and not so
used to this but she was pretty cool and a special piece of the band. Or
maybe the most special thing was the guy with the accordion...

Negative started playing with an acoustic performance of My My Hey Hey
(Out Of The Blue)- Jonne came on stage at first, alone and played guitar
and it was a unexpected athmospheric opening for a NGT gig. But nice, I have
to say.
The songs they played where a good mixture of old and new ones
but it was particulary "An Ornament" that bored me to death,
they
have definitley better ballads than this new one. "Motherfucker Of The
Year" was a muddy lingering sound to the kicked-out guitarist as it
seemed
and my personal highlight was the guitar-solo of Lauri of "Angel's
Won't
Lie" that passed over to "Until You're Mine"! I cannot say that the
sound
changed so much and as much as it did it was not to their
disadvantage.

For I am not very familiar to the new songs I could only
enjoy some old classics, but yes, I did. It's not that I need to listen
to this band at home more than once but they are a damn good liveband-
much better than the studio stuff you can buy- and the
performance is eye-catching. If you are concert-addicted you shoulda go
and see them!

The next day started with the Interview you can read here: click
It was kinda eased and Jonne was obviously in a very good
mood.
Whatever it was it was very kind.
We waited for the entrance and for
there is no photographer's pit we chose a place on the right side in
front of the stage. The venue was a bit bigger than in Hamburg and it
was good filled with enthusiastic people, still a lot of older guys
between the inevitably girls of younger age. The crowd was also much
louder and when Substyle started playing there was a bit concert-tuning
in me.

The Hannover-show of Negative was a bit more powerful as the show in
Hamburg but not better or worse, just a bit different cause of the
audience! I guess the Setlist was the same. You can see it
below!
It was nice to see another gig of these guys and to see that the
problems did not overrun them so bad. It was not that I missed a second
guitar or the nerving girls that stayed away because even this
guitarist was not on stage.
