Pain from Sweden are what I would call a live band. Listen to their albums they do solid but unobstrusiv metal. But watching them live will joy you to the top. They are special. Opening up for Nightwish is always a guarantee for catching new fans as prooved by Sonata Arctica, Charon, Timo Rautiainen and Tristania before. So Pain was a good choice and the people loved them.
When Nightwish started playing accompanied by pyros and flames and fog on the floor the Arena freaks out. It seemed that Anette had been there all the time, the people loved her, the way she interacts with the fans and surprise, surprise I unusually stood on Tuomas site and that guy communicated with the first row as he never did before!! Anette was ill as I was told after the show, but you never heard it in her voice. She sang very good just a bit weaker than we know it from the Nightwish-sound but that fact was clear befor, and the guys had lots of fun with her.
My faves were Ever Dream, The Poet And The Pendulum, Sacrament Of Wilderness with a bit of Moskau and The Islander. They also sang the Siren what surprised me for it is a typical Tarja Song, but Anette did it as good as the oher songs!! In addition to the pyros they spread some snow made of foam that gaves me a big white hat (why did I had to stand right under this thing??) and some confettis that sticked very good on the foam ^^ and fright me cause the pyros came right after the confetti and I guess paper burns best...!! Nevertheless it was a big concert, and most of the people are happy for sure that Nightwish will go on. Anette replaces Tarja in a very short time and she fits perfectly to the band and the new music they created. Don't cry after Tarja- she is still doing her Rock-opera music and Nightwish seems to be much happier with Anette.
