Savannah Skyline - Just another finnish Rock band or. . . ?

It sounds like the typical story; two friends jamming since they were
youngsters, find the perfect matches to form a band. Throughout the
years style and name (former Leobarby) of the band have changed.
Experience and time let them grow together and the band becomes their
second family.
Interviewing their singer Otto and listening to some of their tunes
showed me that they are “not like the others”.Their style,
musically and optically, makes the difference! To them it is important
that the look fits to the music one plays and they live that out also
in real life not only on stage.
Composed of Otto (singer/songwriter), Petteri (drummer), Petri (bass)
and Daniel (guitar) Savannah Skyline are young, fresh and yes they rock!
How do they describe themselves: Daniel and Petteri form the parents of
the band by being “mother” and “father”. Petri
is the little boy who`s always good for a laugh and Otto takes the role
of the teenager who´s still hasn´t found himself. So it
shouldn´t be hard to find somebody to identify with, should it?
About their name. . .well it has a good wibe and feels right, feel free
to use your imagination to find out what it means to you. To Otto
it´s a sunset. . and what about you?
While I was listening to their songs I tried to find a definition of
their music and basically I have to agree with their own description;
their sound is influenced by rock and pop, powerful and haunting
melodies combined with the typical finnish melancholy make it
“round” and a pleasure for our ears.
Savannah Skyline get their inspiration from real life, they try to bind
momentaneous feelings and introduce them in their songs which keeps
them real and authentic.
Their wish to become famous and wellknown has it´s source in the
fact that they wanna share their music with as much people as
possible.Quite noble when one thinks of bands who just put together
some notes that might work with the intention to make the big money!
Out of this reason they don´t try to produce a certain genre of
music, they want to please and jump into the ears of a huge range of
people and not just a certain scene.
Thow they are a rather young band they already have their first german
tour behind them and now they long for more. Some plans about returning
and further touring are getting more concrete but for 2009 the most
important aim is their first album!
Savannah Skyline. . .they started at Gloria in Helsinki and now they
are ready to conquer the whole world. . .Let´s keep eyes and ears
open cause they are not to be missed.

SAVANNAH SKYLINE - BLOß EINE WEITERE FINNISCHE BAND??

Es klingt wie die typische Story, zwei Freunde die zusammen
jammen seit sie Kinder sind, finden die perfekte Besetzung für
ihre Band. Im Laufe der Jahre ändert sich Style und Name
(früher Leobarby) der Band. Erfahrung und Zeit lassen die Jungs
zusammen wachsen und die Band wird zur zweiten Familie.
Das Interview mit Sänger Otto und ihre Songs haben mir gezeigt
dass sie”nicht wie die anderen” sind. Ihr Style,
musikalisch und optisch lässt sie hervorstechen! Für die Band
ist es wichtig dass der Look zur Musik passt und dies Leben sie auch
privat aus, nicht nur auf der Bühne.
Die Band setzt sich zusammen aus Otto (Sänger und Songwriter),
Petteri (Drums), Petri (Bass) und Daniel (Gitarre). Savannah Skyline
sind jung, frisch und ja sie rocken!
Wie beschreiben die Jungs sich selbst: Daniel und Petteri
übernehmen bandintern die Rolle der Eltern, Daniel ist der
“Vater”, Petteri die “Mutter”. Petri ist der
kleine Junge der für die nötigen Lacher sorgt und Otto ist
der Teenager der sich selbst noch nicht gefunden hat. Es sollte also
nicht schwer sein jemanden zu finden mit dem man sich identifizieren
kann, oder ?
Aber was bedeutet der Bandname? Otto zufolge hat Savannah Skyline einen
guten Vibe und fühlt sich einfach richtig an! Er lädt uns
dazu ein, unsere Vorstellungskraft zu benutzen und herauszufinden was
der Name für uns bedeutet. Er selbst denkt an einen
Sonnenuntergang. . .
Während ich mir ihre Songs anhörte habe ich versucht eine
Definition für ihren Style zu finden. Im großen und ganzen
Stimme ich mit der bandeigenen Beschreibung überein: Ihr Sound
wird beeinflusst durch Rock und Pop, stark mit eingängigen
Melodien und kombiniert mit der typischen finnischen Melancholie machen
runden das Ganze ab.
Savannah Skyline schöpfen Inspiration aus dem wahren Leben, sie
versuchen Gefühle in ihre Songs zu packen was sie noch authentisch
macht.
Berühmt zu werden streben sie nicht an um das große Geld zu
machen sondern um ihre Musik mit so vielen Menschen wie möglich zu
teilen. Ein Nobles Ziel wenn man an die vielen Bands denkt die
scheinbar nur Songs basteln um Geld zu schäffeln.
Aus diesem Grund sind Savannah Skyline auch nicht auf einen bestimmten
Musikstil fixiert, sie wollen zum Ohrwurm für eine große
Bandbreite von Leuten werden.
Obwohl es um eine noch junge Band handelt haben sie bereits ihre erste
Deutschland Tour hinter sich und nun wollen sie mehr! Pläne
über weitere Konzerte werden bereits konkreter. Das wichtigste
Ziel für 2009 ist allerdings das erste Album. Wir dürfen also
gespannt sein!
Savannah Skyline. . .nach ihrem Start im Goria in Helsinki sind sie nun
bereit den Rest der Welt zu erobern. . .Haltet also Augen und Ohren
offen, es lohnt sich bestimmt!
